Ibn Battuta‘s Journey

This book is considered one of the most famous travelogues in history. Ibn Battuta was known for his extensive travels, and due to his international fame, the Cambridge Society dubbed him "The Prince of Muslim Travelers." Ibn Battuta began his journey from Tangier, his birthplace, intending to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. He traveled without a companion or relative, and in every city he visited, he made friends, recounting their stories and the city where he met them. The duration of his travels was estimated at approximately thirty years, and he dictated to Ibn Juzayy al-Kalbi the details of those travels and their rarities. After he finished writing, he named his work: "A Gift to Those Who Contemplate the Wonders of Cities and the Marvels of Travels." Ibn Battuta did not limit himself to the external description of the places he visited, but rather he elaborated on the entrances and exits of cities and the natures of the different peoples he lived with, and he narrated many exciting stories that made him one of the pioneers of travel literature in Arabic literature, so much so that we cannot refer to a person who travels a lot without calling him "Ibn Battuta".
