Clear Comprehension

Clear Comprehension: Reading Beyond is a curriculum-aligned comprehension series ed for capable upper-primary and lower-secondary students who require texts and questions that extend beyond standard reading benchmarks. Book 1 introduces students to a carefully curated range of fiction and non-fiction texts drawn from history, science, culture, and the natural world. Each text is accompanied by ten multiple-choice questions targeting literal, inferential, and evaluative comprehension, as well as vocabulary in context. The structure allows teachers to assess comprehension efficiently while encouraging students to engage deeply with increasingly complex material. What distinguishes Clear Comprehension from existing comprehension resources is its explicit progression of text difficulty, its academic tone without unnecessary simplification, and its suitability for extension, enrichment, and independent reading, rather than remediation. The questions are deliberately ed to mirror the cognitive demands students encounter in upper-primary NAPLAN-style assessments and early secondary English classrooms. The series aligns with the Australian Curriculum: English across the Language, Literature, and Literacy strands and is suitable for Years 5-8.
