The Empowerment of African American Males in Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s Beloved Community

An uplifting new study on Martin Luther King Jr.‘s Beloved Community concept shows the power of giving Black men the tools to claim their future in this book for pastors, academics, and leaders. The mistreatment and negative portrayal of Black men in media, art, and the news is a saga that began nearly four hundred years ago with slavery and continues to this day. Although African American men have endured systemic racism, discrimination, and generational cycles of poverty, many stand tall in the face of a culture that actively positions itself against their needs and interests. Martin Luther King Jr.‘s Beloved Community was a vision for a world where people apply faith and action to evoke change, exposing Black men to ways they could navigate an optimistic, empowering path forward toward their goals. The Empowerment of African American Males in Martin Luther King, Jr‘s Beloved Community is a work of inspiration and research that unpacks the results of this vision as it is put in action. Participants from various demographics participated in a six-week program on male empowerment, helping leaders in Black communities to develop knowledge and teaching ability in financial, social, physical health, family life, spiritual, and leadership dimensions.
